What We Believe About Baptism

Baptism is God’s act and promise, once in a lifetime. We baptize by sprinkling, pouring, or full immersion, and believe in baptism at any age. We accept baptism from other Christian churches in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We do not baptize more than once, but we can renew baptism. Students and new members who have not been baptized can receive the sacrament during their service of confirmation or membership.

Parents may choose to bring infants and young children for baptism (leading to confirmation later), or dedication (leading to baptism later), depending on their faith background. At least one parent must be a Christian believer and must attend New Hanover for at least three months before their child’s baptism.

If you are interested in scheduling baptism for yourself or your child, please contact the church office.
