In the Children’s Ministry at New Hanover, our aim is to teach the Bible in creative and relevant ways. Through Bible stories and fun activities customized for all kids from toddler age to older elementary school students, we seek to touch children’s lives with God’s love, lead children to the Savior, and show them how to be more like him.
Your children matter to God - and us! While you worship at “Big Church” upstairs, your kids will have their own time of worship, Bible-based lessons, and fun activities.
ATTENTION CURRENT SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS:
The Buddy Ministry pairs a child with needs – anything from physical disabilities to separation anxiety – with a one-on-one “buddy” during Sunday School. This ministry allows parents to worship knowing that their child is being cared for, and allows children to be included in the lessons and activities with their Sunday School classmates. Buddies are a mix of youth and adult volunteers. If you have a child who could benefit from having a buddy, or if you would like to serve as a buddy, contact Dory Erb.
Designed specifically for infants and toddlers (birth to age 3), the Nurturing Center provides a safe and loving place for our youngest children. Our Nurturing Center is comprised of two rooms – one for infants (birth to 18 months) and the other for toddlers (18 months to 3 years). A staff member is on site on Sunday mornings to coordinate and organize the childcare volunteers. A paging system allows parents to worship with the knowledge that they can be reached if needed.
We provide nursery care (birth through age 4) during the Saturday Night worship service. Children in kindergarten through 6th grade begin the service with their family, and then are dismissed downstairs for a lesson and activity.
